Hello friends! I hope you are all well on this fab Friday!
You know what Friday’s mean for me…SPOGA! (spinning + yoga). Lunchtime yoga was once again a refreshing way to break up my Friday, although I was feeling so relaxed afterwards it was hard to get back to the grind.
Spinning was a good time as well. I’ve had a few spin-less weeks lately so it felt nice to feel the burn! I’m glad I went because I always feel like it’s a good way to kick off my weekend, but man, I am really feeling the burn right now. My thighs have been a bit sore since Wednesday’s BodyPump class (holy squat track, Batman) and with spinning tonight and my practice 5k yesterday (well 4.8k), I haven’t given them much time to recover. Tomorrow will be an off day for sure, so I am all rested up and good to go for my 5k on Sunday!
Speaking of the 5k, right after work I dropped by the New Balance store at the shops at Don Mills and picked up my registration kit.
Very exciting. What’s inside?
Oh yes! An actual bib! And a tech shirt! And there’s a little timing chip to clip on my shoe also. A timing chip! I think it has just sunk in that I am running in an actual race. For someone who has avoided running as much as possible all throughout my college, high school and elementary school careers, this is kind of a big deal. I am equal parts nervous and pumped.
Welp, let’s get to today’s eats. I had some good meals to look forward to after my workouts.
For lunch I packed myself a salad consisting of leaf lettuce, cucumber, sweet red pepper, and green onion, sprinkled with garlic flax seed.
I then added some crumbled up slider burger from last night’s dinner and salsa to make it into a taco salad! I stirred it all up, and it was a great post yoga meal.
I meant to bring cheese for this, but I forgot it :(.
I love using leftovers from dinner the night before in the next day’s lunch. We honestly do not have enough leftovers around here. We’re eaters!
Dinner was the easiest dinner in the world! Before I left work this morning I put boneless pork chops in my crock pot and covered them with water mixed with a beef bouillon packet (I had no beef broth). I left it to cook on low all day. Ando dug in as soon as we arrived home, but I just shoved a granola bar in my face and headed to spinning. I had a yummy dinner to look forward to when I arrived home again.
I pulled the pork with a fork, smothered it with BBQ sauce, and made it into a pulled pork sandwich on a whole wheat sandwich thin. I served it alongside sliced green pepper to squeeze in some veggie action.
Now it’s time for some serious Friday leisuring! Catcha lata!
Question: What’s your favourite workout? Running, spinning, weights, yoga, other?
My new fave is surprisingly weight training. I love BodyPump!
