Runnin’ in the A.M.

Good morning!  I am doing up a little quickie post now since Andmo and I are leaving for our friends’ cottage immediately after work and I won’t get a chance later (no internet at the cottage, which is exactly the way it should be!!!)

Last night I decided that I wanted to run this morning.  I laid out my running clothes before bed, set my alarm for 5:45 am, and went to sleep with a morning run on my mind (this usually helps me get out there).  When my alarm went off this morning, however, I did not want to get out of bed.  I woke up around 3am and it took me forever to fall back asleep (hate that), so I was tired and so tempted to just stay in my nice warm bed.

But somehow, I managed to drag myself out from unda the sheets and into my running clothes, and I sleepily made it out the door.

Though my mind was tired and foggy, my body felt strong!  I did the same loop around my neighbourhood that I completed on Tuesday’s run, but I did it a couple of minutes faster so I tacked on another .5km at the end.  My run totaled about 4.5k.  Not too shabby!

It was so nice to get out this morning, and I’m so grateful I made myself do it.  I felt awesome afterwards.  I am discovering what a lot of runners rave on about, that running is really great “me” time, and just a really good time to think.  It was nice.

I haven’t been posting my breakfast all week, because it has just looked like this.

Breakfast BFF

Oats.  Peanut butter.  Banana.

I have been doing a terrible job at switching up my breakfasts lately and for the past week or so I’ve just been eating oatmeal every day.  Next week I am making it a mission to change it up!  Smoothies, bagelwiches, overnight oats…time for a change!

I am off to my organization’s boys’ rugby championship, and then girls’ soccer championship.  Busy day!  I have to miss lunchtime yoga today though, which I am sad about :(.  But then it’s COTTAGE TIME!!!

  1. I attempted overnight oats and they tasted so bland this morning. If you have a good recipe, I clearly need it! lol. And nothing wrong with oatmeal + PB everyday 😉 Where’s the cottage at? I lurveeee northern Ontario & the fact that it’s so secluded with clean air. No internet actually feels nice there. Have fun this weekend! =)

    • I do have a good one! It’s in the Breakfast section of my recipe page. It’s pretty yummy, I think it’s the vanilla that makes it so good.
      It’s near Bancroft, and meee tooo. Northern Ontario is the best! I would love to live there all summa.

  2. You are SUCH a champ. I have yet to tackle the morning run, but I think I may dabble in the idea when it gets super hot this summa. 🙂 I suck at everything in the morning, so it may not be my best idea ever.
