Time for a petite wedding recap!
First of all, huge congratulations to my good friend Beth and her new husband Dan! I was so excited to witness them embark on their new life together 😉
After a quick walk-through rehearsal on Friday at Beth’s parents house (where the ceremony was taking place), the wedding party and Beth and Dan’s family headed to Dan’s parents house for the rehearsal dinner!
Silly Beth has her eyes closed, but it was the only shot I got!
Dan’s family had an amazing spread laid out and I filled my plate up twice with delicious food.
My first plate included ham on a bun, watermelon, spinach salad with raspberries and balsamic vinaigrette, shrimp, and some garlicky delicious Caesar salad.
Plate #2 included pulled pork on its own (I would have gone for this the first time with my bun, but I missed it!), ham, shrimp, watermelon, chips and homemade salsa, and some more of that awesome Caesar salad.
That pulled pork was deeeelicious and definitely made me question my own crock pot pulled pork. I have a feeling mine is probably healthier, but this pulled pork was so flavourful. I think I will have to recreate it sometime…
I followed my dinner plates up with dessert!
I couldn’t decide between the chocolate cake and the strawberry cheesecake, so I didn’t ;). Both were quite yummy, but I felt a little blarg afterwards and I am going to go ahead and blame the creamy cheesecake. This always happens, but I still have not learned.
After diner we stayed and chatted for a while before heading to Beth’s house for a sleepover. We ate a lot of candy and played a lot of Uno Extreme…
Which I had a really quick downfall in…
The object of the game is to have the least amount of points. I was doing awesome the first two rounds, but then I took a speedy nosedive into last place. I think I got too cocky when I started trash-talking, whoops ;).
We woke up the next morning, had some quick Tim Hortons breakfast sandwiches courtesy of Beth, and headed to Beth’s parents house to get ready!
While one of us was getting our hair done (I refuse to say “did”, it’s my pet peeve), the others ate candy and drank mimosa’s while watching Bride Wars and Mallrats (one of my fave movies, haha).
I was looking pretty rough, until…
I really do not like to post cheesy pictures I take of myself… I’ll probably re-read this one day, see this and get all embarrassed. Just wanted to give you a comparison! I do not wear very much makeup on a daily basis (especially last week since I was camping and cottaging all week), so it’s rare that I look this good. Enjoy it while you can.
I definitely got my hair done, and it was nice for it to not be straight and flat for once, but I did do my own makeup.
And thennnnnn it was time to slip into our dresses…
I loved our bridesmaid dress! We all got so many compliments on it! It was beautiful and flattered all of our body types. The colour and the rose details were my fave, fo’ sho’. I will definitely wear this dress again.
You know who looked the most beautiful?
Beth, hands down! I almost teared up when I saw her. N’dawww 😀
I want to warn you that my photos from the ceremony and reception are not the greatest. I had to rely on Andrew for a lot of them, and when I asked him to get a nice photo of me doing my speech, this is what I got…
So I’ll be looking forward to the professional photos 🙂
But I’ll show ya what I got! Beth’s parents live on acres and acres of horse farm, and their property is so beautiful. It was the perfect place to hold the wedding.
One thing I will say about that beautiful aisle though, is that it was LONG.
I was wearing stilettos and they kept getting stuck in the grass. At one point I thought for sure I was going to fall. But luckily I made it!
Jusssst waiting at the alter…
For this girl.
My favourite part of any wedding is watching the groom’s face as he sees the bride for the first time. This wedding was no exception, and I wish I had a camera to capture Dan’s expression when he saw Beth. He was absolutely glowing, and I saw tears in those eyes! Ahh, I love love 🙂
The ceremony was sweet and romantic, yet included laughter at the appropriate times. It also didn’t drag on for too long. It was perfect.
I was really excited when they kissed…
…And practically made out with my flower arrangement.
After the ceremony it was time to celebrate!
We hit up a local hall where the reception took place. It was a cocktail reception, and I’ll be honest, sometimes when there is finger foods I worry there won’t be enough and I start to stress out a little bit… But that was absolutely not the case and there was tons and tons of food! So many delicious appetizers, and some I had never tried before. I was impressed, and I was stuffed. Unfortunately I was having such a good time I photographed none of it…
And of course Alejandrew was in attendance…
He cleans up alright.
I had a great time tearing up the dance floor with all the ladies…and my date.
Dancing like a maniac at weddings is my favourite. I do not hold back and do not care how ridiculous I look. I love it. I am again hoping the photographer caught some of this…
Another one of my favourite activities at weddings is adopting an old man for the evening to be my grandpa. Dan’s step-grandpa or “Uncle Bill” as Beth calls him, seemed to be up for the job.
He was awesome.
It was a fun reception, and all in all a really great wedding! I was proud to be a part of it and wish both of those cheeky minxes the best of luck in the future!
